Dancers from SwingTime Ballroom in Fallston have
continued to show outstanding skills this year, winning championships in three major regional competitions in the first half of 2012.

Competing with dancers from around the country at the
Philadelphia Festival Dancesport Championships in February, studio owner and instructor Scott Layfield took amateur partners Barbara Zeigler and Teri Fury of Bel Air all the way to the semifinals in Smooth waltz, tango and
foxtrot.  Amateur Denise Layfield of Jarrettsville, dancing with professional Fiodor Zhukov, swept the competition, winning the Pro/Am Silver Standard Championship and also being named “Best of the Best” in both Silver Ballroom and Smooth, earning the couple the opportunity to compete for the national title this fall http://www.bestofthebestdancesport.com/.

In March at the Baltimore Dancesport Challenge the studio’s skills in the Rhythm division were on display. Professional Froilan Mate partnered Gina Kazimir of Bel Air to gold medals in both the Closed Bronze Rhythm Dancesport Challenge and the Rhythm Championship.

June brought the Atlantic Dancesport Challenge, where
SwingTime Ballroom continued to show its strength. Competing in the American senior division, Joanne O’Connell of Baldwin and studio professional Froilan
Mate took home first place ribbons in West Coast Swing, Salsa, Cha Cha, Bolero,Waltz, Tango and Foxtrot. Froilan Mate and Gina Kazimir were also on the podium again, winning both the Bronze Smooth and Rhythm Scholarship divisions. And Denise Layfield and Fiodor Zhukov finished off the studio’s run in style, winning both the Open Pro/Am International Standard and American Smooth Atlantic
Dancesport Challenge Series, and also sweeping the Smooth Scholarship division.

SwingTime Ballroom offers instruction for both social and
competitive dancers in Rhythm, Smooth, Latin and Standard plus wedding dance preparation, belly dancing, Zumba® and Drums Alive ® dance fitness, yoga, self
defense and more. Private and group lessons are available, and there are social dances on Friday evenings where everyone is welcome. The studio also carries a complete selection of tango, ballroom and latin dance shoes, OBS dance sneakers and practice and competition dancewear.
