Attorney: Baltimore Woman's Mega Millions Claim 'Legitimate'

Marlinde Wilson, the woman who says she has the winning Mega Millions lottery ticket sold at the 7-Eleven in Milford Mill, was present Wednesday during a press conference with her attorney.

Maryland Lottery spokeswoman Carole Everett told Pikesville Patch Wednesday afternoon that no one has yet come forward with the winning Mega Millions lottery ticket sold Friday at a Milford Mill 7-Eleven.

Meanwhile, Baltimore resident Marlinde Wilson, who reportedly is an immigrant of Haiti and mother of seven children, still maintains she has that ticket.

On Wednesday morning, Wilson and her attorney held a press conference.

Wilson did not speak, according to a FOX News report, but her attorney Edward Smith asked the media "to not pester his client."

He said her claim is "a legitimate claim," but he has not seen the ticket, the report states.

Wilson allegedly bought Mega Millions lottery tickets for herself and a pool of coworkers at the Milford Mill McDonald's where she works.

She has also said she bought a ticket separately—the winnning ticket.

One of three winning Mega Millions tickets was sold at the 7-Eleven at 8014 Liberty Road, in Milford Mill, Baltimore County, the Maryland Lottery has reported. Two others were sold in Illinois and Kansas.

Since Monday, Wilson has told the media that she has the winning ticket, but she has not shown it yet.

On Tuesday, she said she hid it in a safe place at the McDonald's in Milford Mill, according to a report by the New York Post.

She won't go back to get it until the media attention has died down, it states.

Wilson is a resident of the Westport community in Baltimore, according to the report.

Emphasizing that the Maryland Lottery has "nothing new" to report, Everett said Wednesday that the lottery will hold a press conference Thursday afternoon to discuss the process for a winner to claim a ticket, and how the lottery would announce it.

Plus, her attorney says she has a "legitimate claim", but he hasn't seen the ticket. What is wrong with this guy?

Not the attorney I would ever hire..for anything. He calls a news conference and has her behind him just to say leave her alone. Who hides a lottery ticket in the store where 15 of her co workers gave her money to pool their chances of winning. Soon this lady will say the ticket is missing . Her 15 minutes are up.

This could turn out to be a PC case. It would have helped if the attorney said he had seen the ticket. Only in America!

Ok, her attorney wants everyone to leave her alone....yet he hold a news conference. She has been the one communicating with the media....announces its hidden at work??? Bet you that will be the cleanest McDonalds after the scavenger hunt. And naturally whomever "finds" it, she has a "legitimate" claim. What a bunch of .......

well, if she does have the winning ticket, she should pay us taxpayers back for supporting her 7 kids. This whole thing sounds shady.

If possession really IS 9/10 of the law...rightfully the owner of the McDonalds DOES own that winning lottery ticket, that is IF he finds it.

This is quite possibly the dumbest person in the entire world..........or maybe the biggest scam artist.........not sure which.........I really think her co-worrkers entrusted her (their mistake) to purchase tickets for them through a "pool". She now is claiming the "winning" ticket was one she purchased on her own........What's the saying........fool me once........shame on you........fool me twice........shame on me........I really think SHE should be ashamed if she did this to her co-workers!!!! But then....she's probably too dumb to be ashamed!!

Mike,

I think that you are right on with this one. No matter who turns in the winning ticket, she will claim that it was hers and it was stolen from the place she hid it in at McDonald's. Only thing wrong with her claim will be that the ticket is a bearer document and anyone who "finds" that ticket and signs the back is the sole and rightful owner in the eyes of the MD State Lottery and every other court on this planet. She has ZERO standing before the court if that happens.

By the way, has anyone looked into how much Sweet Swine Pork Rinds paid her to wear that stupid baseball hat during her attorney's "press conference"? I'm willing to bet that was his idea and that all payments for that stunt went directly into his pocket. Otherwise he would never be paid anything.

The owner of this McDonald's had better get a restraining order that will prevent this woman from returning to the McDonald's and starting a RIOT when she comes in to "find" her ticket. Just imagine this. She shows up at the McDonald's. She goes to the purported "hiding place" where she secreted her winning ticket and finds...NOTHING (of course she finds nothing because the winning ticket was never really there). She begins to rant and rave accusing everyone at the store of theft of her "winning ticket" and calls the police.

The McDonald's franchisee should fire her immediately on the basis of her having created a hostile workspace. He should then obtain the restraining order against the woman and have her immediately arrested if she is even heard SAYING the word "McDonald's". Good riddance to bad rubbish. Oh, one more thing, I sincerely hope that the INS is checking into whether or not she is in the country legally. If not, then ship her and her 7 children back to Haiti.

Harry,
I second your your post but, will add that if she is payed her share they (INS) ship her and her brood back with her winnings in CASH. A couple of trunks full of 100 dollar bills.

Right on the money. Not about the lottery at this point. Besides, what "lawyer" states it's a legitimate claim, but yet he's never seen the ticket, nor wants to?? what kind of lawyer doesn't want the truth??

She works at a McDonalds down the road from where the ticket was actually sold????

No one has come in yet to claim the ticket????

Seems to me that she has in fact won, and greed has taken over. I doubt the lawyer's story about not seeing the ticket. I bet he has seen it- and knows it's a winner. What lawyer would stick his neck out this far without some reassurance he is representing someone with the $$$$ to cover his time???
She is trying to cheat her co-workers, plain and simple.

Sometimes any PR is better than no PR. This is not the case for this idiot attorney that let his name be associated with this scam (being that the real MD winner has been verified on 4/9).
