PHP: There is a percentage of people out there today that believe our kids should be coddled, raised in a bubble, never exposed to any kind of risk whatsoever, even remote. They can't fail, they always get what they want, and so on.

Many of you know this, but the pussification of America has been going on for a couple decades now. Some of it, like a degree of gun regulation/banning, I agree with it. However, a good percentage of it, things like excesive political correctness, fear of being sued for anything at any time, I disagree with wholeheartedly.

See, as long as people are doing dangerous activities (and by any definition, driving is inherently dangerous - even when you are a good driver), rare accidents will happen. That's why they are called accidents.

The problem is, the one occasion in, let's say every 5 years in the county lets kids go to school with 2-3 inches of snow on the ground, a bus has an accident and skids off the road. No one's 'really' hurt. Yet you can bet your bottom dollar some kid's sycophant parents will irrationally raise holy hell and try suing the county - and our blind justice system will generally agree with them.

Heck, anyone who follows the NFL sees this happening right before our eyes. Former players actually suing the league for injuries they got playing? Seriously?

Again, school bus drivers when I was in grade school had little issue with a tiny bit of snow. I'm also pretty confident they had rear wheel drive buses too. I'm not talking about 4-5 inches of snow overnight - I would completely understand with a school delay or closure if needed for that.

Evets - I saw my old playground a few months ago - there is nothing to climb, jump off, etc. so kids don't get hurt. Do you agree with that? Do we want walking manatees as a society? Is that 'safe' for the children?

and this is EXACTLY what is wrong with our society.

Twenty five years ago, we kids were out playing in this outside. Sometimes we fell and got injured. It happens.

I mean, our school year is already too short as it is, and all this wasted time isn't helping as other countries continue to produce more and more productive people despite not having the resources our nation does.

Not to mention, the lack of A/C (a real hot button issue of mine) makes these poor kids suffer through June days in sweltering schools because it seems this county was run assbackwards for a couple decades or so on this issue.

Michael unfortunately, gone are the days when people look to work through problems, it seems. Today its all about suing someone else for money you don't deserve.

It doesn't just apply to the poor/abusers of welfare. As Evets notes above, it exists in all rungs of American society. It's a disease that I can only hope someday gets cured.
