A school bus accident on southbound Interstate 83 brought traffic to a standstill Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Sgt. Charles Cass of the State Police Golden Ring Barrack said there were no injuries in the accident that occurred in the southbound lanes near the intersection of Ruxton Road in Pikesville.

State Police received a call at about 3:12 p.m. and the bus had left before the troopers left at 4:55 p.m., Cass said.

It's likely that the bus drove away on its own, he said. Two lanes of I-83 were closed while police investigted.

No further details were available, as the troopers had not yet returned to the barrack, he said.
