CFG Bank Funding Annual Lutherville Lab Fall Family Funfest

The new bank in Lutherville donated $700 to offset the cost of the festival.

CFG Community Bank in Lutherville donated $700 to Lutherville Laboratory Elementary School for its annual Fall Family Funfest, off setting costs for money that will be reinvested into extracurricular activities for its students.

CFG representatives reached out to Lutherville Lab to kick-start the partnership after the Maryland-based community bank relocated from its Towson location in May. The bank presented the school with a check earlier this week.

“We knew that because of the economy and hard times of government funding schools, small businesses and banks need to step up to supplement funding," Michael McClung, CFG's vice president of branches, said. "The next thing was just to start a partnership with the PTA and the school to fund things like this.”

The windfall will allow Lutherville Lab's PTA to reinvest the offset costs of the festival into programs like Destination ImagiNation and other cultural arts programs. Although PTA president Laurie Cook said she has at least an idea for where the money should be spent.

“Technology is probably at the top of the list. That’s where we’re headed," Cook said.

The festival will take place Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Lutherville Lab and will feature 25 booths and games for current students, parents and alumni to enjoy.

“I really feel like this Fall Fest is really a local community event that is going to celebrate families here at Lutherville,” said the festival's co-chair Jamie Papas.

The 15th annual Funfest will tomorrow also play host to former Baltimore Ravens Pro-Bowl kicker Matt Stover who will teach students how to "Kick Like a Raven" for a chance to win an autographed football, Papas said.
