County Residents Encouraged to Recycle Old Holiday Lights

The lights can be taken to three county drop-off facilities.

If you discover unusable strings of lights as you unpack ornaments for the holiday season, consider taking them to any of the three county drop-off facilities.

According to a news release from the county, the lights should be placed in a designated electronic container located at each facility. The lights will be reused, repaired or recycled.

County residents can take their lights to the following facilities:

When you go to the drop-off facilities, is there a specific place to drop the lights off?

I for one will never part with my good old "normal" Christmas lights. I can't stand the new LED lights and dread the day when those type will be all we see.

I like the LED lights. I can connect like 43 strands together (according to the directions) and they do not suck nearly as much power out of the grid as the old lights.

The newer LED lights are much brighter and cheaper. I finally converted to all LEDs last year, not to save power, but because they don't burn out as easy, saving a lot of aggravation. When I pulled out last year's LED lights, not one bulb was out in all 1500 lights. Probably saved me 2 hours over previous years. I only use colored lights, so they look fine.
