Hints:

  • The restaurant opened recently... in Timonium.
  • Ordering an "Al Pacino," "Michael J. Fox," or "Mick Jagger" is not uncommon.
  • There is a huge hint on the Lutherville-Timonium Patch Facebook page.
  • This is the owners' third location.

Take you best guess in the comments section below and I'll reveal the answer later today with a full story.

Good luck!

Is this the bext photo they could come up with? A pink sub that appears to have NOTHING on it other than 3-4 slices of lunchmeat! No lettuce, no pickles, no chips, nothing else visible?

If this is the best they have, I'll be surprised if they are in business 1 year from now.

It was my photo, taken with my iPhone. I intentionally made it difficult to identify by making it look plain. I assure you however, it is anything but. The place was so popular in Towson and Canton that it opened a Timonium location. Try it for yourself and post a review on the site! - ND

Nick,

I understand your motive behind the photo, but if you owned THB would you allow such a sorry photo of your product to be posted on the internet?

I am astounded that this place is popular. See my review of my visit today (June 22, 2012) to the Timonium location. This place is a greasy spoon of the first order.

The bagels in the display cabinet looked as if someone just threw them into the case. They didn't have the different varieties of bagel separated into separate bins and the hand-lettered signs on the bins looked very unprofessional. They misspelled Poppy bagels as Poppi. Perhaps this was due to the fact that everyone I saw working behind the counter all spoke with spanish accents. Maybe these employees should look to El Salto's restaurant in Parkville for future employment when, after Goldberg's opens, the people of Lutherville-Timonium-Cockeysville learn what real bagels look, smell, and taste like.

I wanted to like this place, but today was my first and last time to visit.

Just visited this place for the first...and last time. My wife and I went there for breakfast. She ordered a sesame bagel, not toasted, with lox cream cheese on the side. I ordered their ham and cheese omelet with a poppi (that's how they spelled it) bagel toasted twice with butter on the side. The result?

My wife's bagel looked and tasted like a well baked bun rather than a true bagel. The lox creamed cheese was not served on the side but placed on the bagel. Not too bad an order mixup.

My ham and cheese omelet was served on the same plastic tray as my wife's order and placed on the same sorry piece of waxed paper that her bagel was served on. The grease from the omelet thoroughly saturated the waxed paper and as I cut a piece of the omelet out to eat, I got a serving of greasy waxed paper with each portion. The "home fries" served with the omelet were horribly greasy and overcooked resulting in an inedible mess on the plate.

There is no table service at this place, unlike at Bagel Works just 1/2 mile south on York Road.

In summary, I have to say that when Goldberg's opens on Padonia road, I give THB 6 months or less of life avter Goldberg's opens. I will never return to THB.
