Kamenetz Addresses Public Directly Online
County executive using Youtube to update residents on storm recovery.
County Executive Kevin Kamenetz has taken to the Internet to provide an update on the county in the days after Hurricane Irene.
Late yesterday afternoon, the county executive posted a 2 minute video on Youtube that was taped in his office.
Kamenetz provides some updates on the number of county homes without power and steps the county is taking to provide non-potable water to some rural residents reliant on well water systems.
"We are committed to help BGE get this situation resolved as quickly as possible and we share in your frustration," Kamenetz said.

What is the old adage: "Never let a serious crisis go to waste."
The issue on Brentwood Ave. and the festering flooding down there has been 20 years in the making.
Not much chance for a photo-op there. It's the little things that add up to the big things.
Roger Hayden thought the county didn't need road salt for snow storms until a major one blew him out of office.
If Mr. Kamenetz has a direct line to BG&E, then take off the gloves and hold them accountable.
Listen to NJ Governor Christie and how he deals with problems and he does not mince words.

On Monday, Councilman Marks provided the same update as KK sent out this morning, Thursday. No video, but all the timely information we needed. Councilman Marks knows that actions speak louder than words. I am very happy that Kevin was able to speak to the president of BGE and learn and report to us that BGE is doing all that it can. Outstanding. Rather than subtly covering your own a**, how about, "B Co. crews have teamed with BGE to expedite the tree removal process. In response to the County's extraordinary needs, BGE has contracted with 3,000 additional linesman to restore power to the remaining 50,000 customers still affected. If you are without water and sewer, the County has emergency services set up at local fire stations and a hotline to call with specific needs. Please contact my office, we want to help." Instead, we are to be impressed that you spoke with an executive. Please, at least act like you have been there before... we expect you to talk to the leaders, we expect you to offer solutions and comfort, not old news!

Johnny, I know you are a tool for the republican party, but why don't you actually watch the video because everything you just said was said by Kamenetz in the video.

Calmdown, you have missed the point. KK's address was more of a CYA advertisement for himself rather than anything helpful. The information he shared was not intended to serve any audience's benefit but rather, it was a message delivered because he had to deliver one! There are many opportunities for elected leaders to connect with the people. KK is emulating O'Malley's playbook: stay out of sight, out of trouble and get re-elected. KK has chosen to operate in accordance with his handlers and not with the passion and vision he expressed when running. The KK in office today is not the man he described in his vision. Today, I see a scared and self absorbed playground target trying to become popular in circles that are new and novel to him. If your best thinking is that my opinions are directed by political party, you have underestimated the sincerity of concern and level of commitment people like me have for our communities. I do not care what form of being is in elected office; I care about the morality and principle that comes out of it. Leadership needs leadership or the system breaks. Our system is breaking. It is time the people start to provide some leadership.

Our system isn't breaking - it's already broken.

Right JT, Marks press release wasn't self serving? Kamenetz explained to anxious residents that he instituted measures to help BGE do their job - getting county crews to coordinate with BGE, pushing BGE to get more linesmen in the county, giving water and providing dumpsters. How are people supposed to know this unless he puts out e message. I don't know which person you are writing about, but I see a county executive who is visible, no nonsense, consolidating government and watching our tax dollars. Sounds like the definition of leadership to me.

Tim, if you only knew how broken and the sad part it will go on until someone steps in and stops it.

103 views to his video in 24 hours (2 of which are mine) is pathetic execution of public outreach. If he wasn't just "checking the box" as to what a County Executive should do, and really cared, he would have followed up his video with an email campaign, to all his constituents, and asked them to spread the word. But its not going to happen because HE DOESNT CARE and he knows it is missing substance. Its all show. Calmdown you are a mere sheep in the herd. He miscalculated the content of the message, its timing and its content- all because he is not invested in the issues that make our lives better. I believe he once was. I hope he finds the pair he lost. But right now, he has lost his way and praying on his sheep. 103.

Go Johnny go! Go Johnny go, go, go!
That was the first thing I look at was the number of views. Let's see 103 from around 650,000 is, well you know what I mean.

A video is pretty useless when you don't have power to watch it. I'm not sure who is watching but I know it's not County Employees since You Tube is blocked.

Executive Kamenetz, while we are discussing your community outreach and concern for your constituents, next time you are on the phone with the BGE president (daily of late) will you please discuss how the two of you can stop BGE impersonators from conning and robbing our communities?

What about the polluted streams like Jennifer Branch and Jennifer Run? No action there--Only environmental variances to put impervious surfaces next to the stream for developers and 3 houses.
