Lutherville-Timonium Crime: Non-English Speaker Foils Robbery
The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases where a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.
York Road, 1800 block, 10:51 a.m. on April 1. A burglary attempt was foiled over the weekend by a Subway restaurant employee partly because she doesn’t understand English, according to an incident report. A man walked into the sandwich shop and presented the clerk with a note demanding money. The report indicates that the suspect implied he had a gun.
The clerk “did not understand English” and walked away to the rear of the store to speak with a coworker about the man’s inquiry. The suspect then fled out the front door.
The suspect was described as a white man between 20 and 30 years old, weighing about 210 pounds, with a brown goatee, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with white lettering, blue jeans, a black ball cap. No further information was given to police.
Howard Drive, unit block, between March 24 and 8:21 p.m. on March 31. A Yamaha Outboard motor was stolen from a man’s boat. No further information is known at this time.
Chatterleigh Circle, 1100 block, at 1:30 a.m. on March 26. A burglar broke a window and stole a laptop placed on a nearby table. No further information in known at this time.

To be clear, the clerk's citizenship status is not in question here.

I think you have the wrong Subway in the picture. The one in the picture is at Seminary & York. This happened at the Subway next to Starbucks further north on York Road. .My husband and I stopped in yesterday for lunch and the police were there and said the store was closed. I"m glad no one was hurt!

Hi Michele, Thank you bringing that to my attention. You are correct that is a photo of the wrong Subway. I'm working on getting a photo from the proper location ASAP. Thank you again.

Yes, that Subway near Starbucks is also near to a drug treatment facility located at a building behind the Salvo Auto Parts store. That drug treatment center has brought a large number of bums and miscreants to the area via the light rail. For many years Salvo had problems with these sub-humans taking up their customer's parking spaces and those who ride the light rail began showing up at the Baltimore Coffee and Tea (close to the light rail) asking to use their rest rooms and panhandling from customers in that business.
I don't have any proof that this was the source of the suspect in this crime, but I would be willing to put some serious money on it.
