While statewide assessment scores may have revealed a mixed bag of results, Lutherville-Timonium students showed mostly gains from 2011—exceeding state and countywide averages.

At the elementary school level, nearly every school exceeded both the state averages for reading and math (88.2 percent and 87.7 percent of students showing proficiency, respectively) and the county averages (90.7 percent and 90.8 percent, respectively).

The only students to dip below the average were Pot Spring Elementary School third graders.

Ridgely Middle School—the only middle school serving the Lutherville area—crushed the statewide average of 82.1 percent of students proficient in reading and 76.2 percent of students proficient in math at each grade level.

Ridgely scored over 90 percent proficiency in all categories, across all grades.
