McCormick's 'World of Flavors' Opens at Harborplace
The Hunt Valley spice company opens its new outlet today.
As race cars zoom around downtown Baltimore this weekend, the smell of tires won't be the only thing in the air.
Today the Sparks-based McCormick and Co. opens World of Flavors, its very first retail store, in Light Street Pavilion.
The new store will sell gifts, cooking, baking and grilling products from its popular brands, including GrillMates, Zatarain's and—of course—Old Bay.
A company press release also highlights games and other activities at the store, including a spice guessing game, a personalized flavor profile and videos on how the comany makes spices and herbs. The store will also host demonstrations and samples.
The release also points out that the new store is just a block away from McCormick's first plant at 414 Light Street. The company moved to Sparks in 1989.

I think this is great! When HP first opened, it had a lot of small independant shops, many were Baltimore-centric. It was THE PLACE to take out-of-town visitors. Over the years it lost those shops & with them, the vibe that HP was uniquely Bmore. This store could be a step in the right direction, bringing back that Bmore feeling!
