Pair in Towson Mall Shooting Sentenced to Life Without Parole

Frank Theodore Williams and William Ward III were convicted in a September trial

A Baltimore County judge said Friday that each of the two men convicted in a fatal Towson shooting last December should spend the "balance of his natural life" behind bars.

Judge Robert E. Cahill sentenced Frank Theodore Williams, 32, of Baltimore Highlanda and William Ward III, 45, of Baltimore to life without parole for the first-degree murder conviction as a result of their roles in the fatal December shooting at Towson Town Center.

"Wherever life takes either of these defendants ... there will be violence, brutality and bloodshed," Cahill said in handing down his sentence.

During the hearing, prosecutor Robin Coffin read from a letter from an aunt of Pridget, which described the slain teen as a boy who faced many challenges, including his mother's death four years prior, but had so much potential. She described the crime as a "senseless, violent act committed when they were going about their business, doing something as innocent as Christmas shopping."

Mall surveillance video shown during the trial showed Ward, Williams, alleged gunman Tyrone Brown and accomplice Jermell Brandon communicating by cell phone as they followed Pridget through the mall on Dec. 19. Brandon, who struck a plea deal with prosecutors, testified that the shooting was gang-related and that it was retailiation for Pridget allegedly shooting Williams' cousin.

"Whether or not that's true, Rodney Pridget deserved a trial," Coffin said. "They cared not that the execution was six days before Christmas in one of the most crowded malls in this county. They cared not. They were the law."

In the sentencing hearing, Coffin also discussed both men's extensive criminal records. For Williams, that includes drug convictions, a conviction for conspiracy to commit robbery in 1993 and second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer in 2009, for which he was paroled in January of 2011. William Ward was found guilty of several robberies in the 1980s and 1990s, including three in 1997, for which he was paroled after five years of a 15-year sentence.

Since then, friends called by his defense said in the sentencing hearing, he had been an active member of his church and his community, mediating disputes and acting as a father figure for teens.

"He had a positive impact and a big impact in his community," said Ward's attorney, Michelle Moodispaw.

Coffin also said Williams, while in the Baltimore County Detention Center before his trial, went from cell to cell with another prisoner and threatening other inmates as part of an apparent prison gang.

Neither defendant opted to say anything on his behalf. Moodispaw and Hoss Parvizian, Williams' public defender, both said they intend to appeal.

Cahill also issued a suspended sentence on handgun use in a violent crime and conspiracy to commit first degree murder.

What? They get to live?? String em up at the roundabout in Towson. That would probably send a more substantial message.

You're thinking about what happens in Baltimore CITY. This is Baltimore COUNTY and we do things a little differently here. Ask most of the criminals who inhabit Baltimore City. They know where the City/County line is and they rarely venture outside of Baltimore City because they know that they can do whatever they want in the City without fear of prosecution or lengthy imprisonment. These two geniuses and their fellow miscreants forgot where they were when they offed their "victim".

They still don't. Take a look at the article. The one fellow was in for numerous crimes and was always released and probably will be again after a couple of years so he can come back and haunt our neighborhoods again.

Donald
Why should our tax dollars keep these killers alive. It would be money better spent on innocent people who need help. Let them starve, a good public stoning would be fun or just use them to fill pot holes.

don't worry. they'll probably be free in 2-3 years on work release so you won't have to pay for them anymore. until next time they get caught.

These two will still be causing problems while they are in a Maryland jail. They were threatening inmates while in the Baltimore County Dentention Center. I feel they should be sent out of state to a jail in Texas. Let them deal with Hispanic drug and gang inmates than see who tuff these two are.

I live here in Texas and 3 of my neighbors work in the TDJ (Texas Dept of Justice). And the prisoners have to be moved from one facility to another if the a/c isn't working. They caudle prisoners down here like you wouldn't believe. So don't send them here unless you want them to live like royalty.

It would take less than a dollar's worth of lead to get rid of these 2 birth defects.Maryland could put the money to something useful for a change.

I worked with a fellow in Towson years ago who told me he only had 2 weeks left. I said what you mean. He said, didn't you know I was in prison? I said no and for what. He said for killing 2 people. He said he got 5 years total and 2 was work release. Plus he got to keep all the money he earned while on release. It pays to kill people.

HAHAHA.....all you Democratic county voters dont being to weep and cry when your City brothern who your send so much of your tax money to "help" come into your nice little mall and cause all kinds of problems.

But D's are probably too narrow minded to make that connection. I can all but promise you these guys were on government assistance be it food stamps, free housing, free cell phone, or disability.

Keep voting for these government assistant minded politicians who continue to steal from one neighborhood to "help" another one....but dont cry to me when your "nice area" gets infested.

I agree wholeheartedly.Career criminals such as these 2 savages need to be removed from society permanently. The liberals embrace everybody below themselves the elite as people who need a fair chance in life. But we all make our choices in life, you either do right or wrong. We have created a whole new section of society called victims of their surroundings. Many people deal with life as it gets thrown at them. The democrats choose to blame everyone else for these "peoples"woes. On your feet or on your knees,if life is that hard then do the world a favor by leaving it.

The Baltimre City brothers can come into Baltimore County and commit crimes. Problem for the brothers are the judges and citizens aren't going to fall for their hard luck stories of a poor upbringing. If I am on a jury, if you do the crime, you do the time. I will also call the police if I see any suspicious people in my hood. Don't snitch doesn't work in my hood. Reporting crime works.
