PHOTO OF THE DAY: Struck By Inspiration (and Lightning)
Pictures from last night's thunderstorm.
And you thought trying to get your kids to pose for a photo was hard.
Last night's crack and boom, though startling, did set the stage for a fun photo shoot from the vantage point of my apartment balcony in Lutherville.
I was using my Canon T2i (or 550D to some of you). I've never shot a lightning storm before, so critiques from photographers are always welcome.
Better yet, if you have photos of last night's storm, or any other noteworthy scene, please send them firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll post your shot as a featured photo post.
As for the rest of the week, the National Weather Service is showing scattered thunderstorms and high temperatures. Here is the breakdown below:

Tuesday night ... Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight ... Partly cloudy ... 20 percent chance of precipitation.
Wednesday ... Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. ... Mostly sunny ... high near 91 ... 20 percent chance of precipitation.
Wednesday night ... Low around 66 ... Partly cloudy.
Thursday ... High near 84 ... Sunny.
Thursday night ... Low around 65 ... Mostly clear.
Editor's Note: My colleague Brad Gerick, local editor for Bel Air Patch, has a budding second career as a professional storm chaser in the works. Brad has chased down three tornadoes in the last year alone. Last night he managed to get some great footage of the "epic" thunderstorm hovering over Harford County.
