St. Joseph School teaches students about renewable energy through a hands-on model car project and race.

was the site of a solar power car race Wednesday—the culmination of science teacher Lauren Greer's renewable energy curriculum.

Elkridge-based donated the model cars used by students in the thrilling four-heat (friendly) competition.

Middle school students were given the task of learning the material and building the model cars. They then were tasked with teaching the younger, lower school students in an innovative, educational approach to science.
