Judah Friedlander Headlining in Timonium

The '30 Rock' star will be at Magooby's Joke House for one night only this weekend.

Judah Friedlander is the world champion—at everything. Just ask him. And he'll be performing for one night only at Magooby's Joke House this weekend. Friedlander is today perhaps best known for his role as comedy writer Frank Rossitano in NBC's 30 Rock. The show was recently spared from the "Peacock's" chopping block and will be renewed for a seventh and final (albeit shortened) 13-episode season. But Friedlander considers himself a standup comedian first and foremost. "Judah started doing stand-up in 1989 and has been doing it just about every night ever since," reads the comedian's bio. "Even though Judah has made over 30 movies and appeared in hundreds of TV shows - stand-up comedy is Judah’s priority and specialty. He is not an actor …

Lutherville Gets 'Mad Men' Shout Out

We round up what people are saying online about the mention from last night's episode.

Lutherville received a little national recognition last night in the first five minutes of AMC's Mad Men. As cool as it is to hear your town mentioned on a wildly popular, award-winning drama, it was still kind of a jab. Here was the setup (from an excited Patch colleague):  "OK, so basically the head of a ski equipment company is from Lutherville, MD and Roger is handing over Pete the account because he was requested to take over the account and Roger doesn't want to hang with some 'schmo from Lutherville, MD.' " Schmo? Ski equipment? Does anyone ever remember there being a ski shop in Lutherville decades ago?  I did a little digging, and apparently Roger Sterling is known for his one-liners.  I guess we should be honored? Shortly after…

'Jokesters' Teaming Up With 'Scaregrounds' Chums for Horror Movie

If you're interested in working as an extra, keep reading.

The Jokesters—Lutherville’s first-family of shrieks and shrills—are working on a new psychological horror movie reuniting the cast that brought you The Timonium Scaregrounds. Steve Bauer and Marianne Wittlesberger, perhaps best known around the neighborhood as the family that transformed the fairgrounds grandstands into a haunted house, are teaming up with director Mike Gutridge for The Bone Garden. Bauer and Wittlesberger are attached as special effects and makeup artists, while Gutridge takes the helm as director/producer/writer.  Before shooting begins in May, Bauer said he is looking for extra help both on and off camera production. “Jokesters, er, Timoniac, working on a movie now, let us know if you are in at any point... looking for …

Forest Hill, Timonium Dance Duo Fundraises For Alzheimer's

The pair will dance in the Alzheimer's Association's Baltimore Memory Ball.

A dynamic local duo has teamed up to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association—one dance step at a time. Renee Wooding, 51, of Timonium and Juan Alzamora, 43, of Forest Hill are honing their moves for the Alzheimer's Association's Memory Ball which will take place April 14. The "Dancing Stars" theme of the ball brings together local celebrities from Baltimore and the surrounding area to raise money for the association. Wooding, former president of the Alzheimer's Association board, decided participating in the event would be a good way to support the association and signed up. Not long after that, Lydia Haskell, Bel Air resident and owner of The Fitness Rave in Middle River, set Wooding up with her dance partner. Alzamora is a project …

VIDEO TUTORIAL: 'Hunger Games' Inspired Makeup

Learn how to recreate the sure-to-become iconic look from the Capitol of Panem.

When fans first saw the trailer for The Hunger Games, perhaps the most striking visual (aside from the 10-second countdown to iminent danger) was the posh, pink look of Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket. See trailer here. Banks spent three hours a day in a makeup chair through weeks of filming to create the unqiue — high-concept — look of the capital city of Panem. Patch can help you recreate that look in under five minutes. Just watch the video above. The tutorial will help you stand out, if you plan on dressing in character for The Hunger Game's opening weekend. If you are dressing up for the premier, post your photos to this story by clicking the "upload" link above. Did you go to the midnight premier of The Hunger Games? What did you …

MEDIA GALLERY: Dulaney High School Presents 'Urinetown: The Musical'

Take a sneak peek into the final dress rehearsal ahead of tonight's premier.

When you gotta go ... you gotta pay when you're in Urinetown. Artistic director Elizabeth Garrott and her cast of talented Dulaney High School performers are at it again, undertaking the challenge of bringing the difficult (critically-acclaimed) Broadway show Urinetown: The Musical to the high school stage. And Garrott thinks they've outdone themselves this go-around for her fourth show, second musical at the high school. “This is the best show we’ve done,” Garrott said, beaming with pride after a final dress rehearsal Wednesday night.  “Everybody thought, ‘Oh, we’ll never top Rent, we’ll never do anything better than that,’ and this is—I think—10 times the show.” Familiar names fill out the cast. Gabrielle Tyson steps into the innocent, …
