Aumann Pooh-Poohs O'Malley Flush Tax Increase
No one loves a good quote more than a reporter on deadline.
Today's offering comes from Republican Del. Sue Aumann, who is not a fan of Gov. Martin O'Malley's proposed increases to the so-called flush tax.
"The more you poo, the more it will cost you," Aumann said with a straight face.
O'Malley outlined the need for the increases in his budget and his State of the State address today.
The plan calls for a doubling of the surcharge which currently runs the average household about $2.50 per month. The governor said he'd like to move from a flat-fee to one based on usage.
Aumann said it's a tax Maryland residents will have a hard time escaping.
"What are you going to do, go to the mall to poo?" she said.

Coin boxes next to all of my toilets! Business will have you drop a dime when you drop a "deuce". This is too easy.

Sadly, the governor seems to think the solution to all our woes is to increase taxes. At some point our state and counties need to get spending under control. I could condone additional taxes on a temporary basis if they are used to get us out of a financial mess, but there should be a period when they expire and would have to be renewed, rather than go on for eternity. When a family has financial woes they trade in the Cadillac for a Ford or Chevy. The government just raises taxes and keeps buying Cadillacs.
