CONTINENTAL REALTY CORPORATION DOMINATES COMPETITION IN MMHA-SPONSORED MAINTENANCE MANIA® EVENT FOR THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

BALTIMORE, MD (March 7, 2014) – Continental Realty Corporation (CRC) captured 30 out of a possible 36 awards at the recently-held local qualifying competition for the 2014 Maintenance Mania® championship, an event annually sponsored by the Maryland Multi-Housing Association, which is an affiliate of the National Apartment Association.  Last year, CRC maintenance technicians captured 20 out of a possible 28 awards, with the recent results continuing the company’s four-year domination.

Held throughout the country in various cities, Maintenance Mania® challenges maintenance and service technicians in a number of skill-based games including installing door jams and refrigerator gaskets, replacing parts of a ceiling fan, swapping out a toilet fluid master and substituting a new CO detector.  The events were designed to replicate common maintenance activities performed on a daily basis in apartment units.

The 30 total awards earned by Continental Realty Corporation technicians included the overall top prize winner for the second winner year in a row, as well as individual placements of first, second and third for the entire event.  Jon Machado, who handles maintenance for the company’s Courthouse Square Apartments in Towson, placed first in the overall competition for the second year running.  He is once again eligible to compete in the regional Maintenance Mania® championship.

Ray Traver, who works for the company’s Kenilworth at Perring Park and Courthouse apartment communities, finished second overall, and Murray Jordan, Jr., who is assigned to the company’s Kenilworth at Perring Park project, placed third overall.  This marks the third year in a row that Continental Realty maintenance professionals finished in the top three spots of the competition.  CRC professionals also placed fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth overall.

For the second year in a row, JM Schapiro, Chief Executive Officer of Continental Realty Corporation took top honors in the executive competition, where five regional management company executives competed in a scaled-down version of the competition.  The three competition categories were binds installation, deadbolt lock and key test and faucet repair.
