Towson-based Zerodraft Maryland hires new Home Performance Manager

Towson-based Zerodraft Maryland, a leading regional energy conservation firm, is excited that Wade Bischoff has been hired as Manager of the company’s Home Performance division. In this role, he oversees home energy audits and residential energy improvements, while also serving as the company’s senior energy auditor and technical advisor.

Wade comes to Zerodraft with Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification and more than 10 years’ experience in building conservation, sustainability and building energy efficiency, including three years of direct energy auditing experience. A native of Oregon, Wade most recently lived in Kansas City, Kansas, where he ran his own successful home performance and energy modeling practice. But industry opportunities are far more exciting here in Maryland, Wade says, so he and his family recently decided to pull up stakes and move east. They reside in Cockeysville.

In his new role at Zerodraft, Wade leads the company's "Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®" (HPwES) efforts for both new and existing properties. Maryland’s “Home Performance with ENERGY STAR” efficiency programs are largely funded by a voter-approved utility surcharge under the “EmPOWER Maryland Act,” so that homeowners typically only pay $100 for a full home performance energy audit. Zerodraft’s growing team of certified home energy auditors works with Wade to test customers’ homes and recommend a variety of improvements that cut energy costs while boosting comfort and energy efficiency. Customers are then eligible for up to $3,150 in utility rebates for these measures. “I love helping people become more comfortable in their homes as well as lower their utility bills,” says Wade. “This includes educating homeowners and renters about energy efficiency programs, helping them understand and navigate these programs, and assist them in getting the most value for their money.”
