UPDATE: College Manor, Community Association Reach Zoning Agreement

Covenant allows assisted living facility to build a new wing while prohibiting additional development for 25 years.

UPDATE (4:10 p.m.)—The yellow "no high density development" signs that have lined the streets of Historic Lutherville are coming down.

and the Lutherville Community Association Board of Directors have reached an agreement, settling the ongoing zoning dispute at the assisted living facility.

College Manor representatives have signed a restrictive covenant agreement, which allows 3.62 acres of the property to be up-zoned so College Manor can build a new wing. The covenant also restricts further development of the property for 25 years.

Earlier this week, community members County Councilman Todd Huff for introducing legislation as a way of solving the problem.

Huff withdrew the legislation Friday afternoon citing "because it was not need," according to release (see PDF).

"Although I did not participate in any of the substantive negotiations, I encouraged the parties to come together to find agreement. They did so and the result is positive for , the Lutherville community, and the citizens of Baltimore County," the release states. I commend the community leaders and all the residents of Lutherville for their efforts."
