Gas Leak to Cause Backups on York Road in Cockeysville

There was a gas leak on York Road at Warren Road.

Due to a gas leak, York Road was shut down at Warren Road Tuesday afternoon, Baltimore County Public Safety reported at approximately 2 p.m.

After construction workers broke a gas line, Baltimore County first responders were called to the 10500 block of York Road in Cockeysville for a report of a gas leak at 1:52 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a report from Baltimore County Public Safety.

There have been no injuries, and BGE crews were at the scene but did not have an estimated completion time for repairs, the report said.

Between Warren Road and Railroad Avenue, traffic on York Road headed in both directions will run in the southbound lanes; northbound lanes will be closed.

"This altered traffic pattern is expected to cause a significant backup," according to the report.

Officials advised drivers to take another route.

The gas leak was approximately 1 mile south of the site of another gas leak, reported Monday, on York Road at Ashland. That incident caused the evacuation of homes and businesses.
