Maryland State Fair opens with a 4-H/FFA Alpaca showmanship and performance at 8 a.m. at the Cow Palace. There also will be a goat contest; a sheep contest; a beef contest; a dairy goat contest, and evening entertainment. Rides and games will be available on the Midway, and the Maryland Foods Pavilion will offer a variety of items. Admission is $8 for adults; $6 for seniors; $3 for children ages 6 to 11, and children 5 and under are admitted free.
