Horticultural Society of Maryland 21st Annual Garden Tour --Gardens of Historic Franklintown and Dickeyville

Come enjoy the unique historic setting of these charming streamside communities on a walking tour -- held rain or shine -- that invites guests to meander through 21 often interconnected gardens that utilize each other’s designs and views in delightful and innovative ways.

“The gardeners here in Franklintown and Dickeyville have made the most of the unique challenges and opportunities presented by terrain that includes everything from steep, boulder-strewn hillsides and terraces to stone ruins along meandering streams. The charm of village life is immediately apparent,” said Garden Tour Committee Chair Nell Strachan.

As an added attraction, there will also be a one-hour Historic Walking Tour of Historic Dickeyville beginning at 1:00 PM at the Odd Fellows Hall at 2412 Pickwick Road.  Lead by village historian Mike Blair, the tour traces the history of the community from early farming and millworks to the Civil War and beyond into the town’s restoration during the 20th century.
