Property Manager: Charred Rib To Serve Its Last Customers

The Charred Rib in Lutherville-Timonium is closing, and will serve its last customers on March 31.

"I've owned the business for 30 years," said Tony Campagna, owner, noting that the 30th anniversary is March 19—this weekend. "We've had a good run, but the economy's tough."

The lease is up at midnight March 31, and the business has been for sale during the past two years, he said.

Mark Renbaum, chief executive officer of Schwaber Holdings in Pikesville, said that Schwaber and the owner of Charred Rib, at 12 W Ridgley Rd. in Lutherville-Timonium had came to an agreement.

Marketing efforts are under way to attract a new “top-flight family restaurant to the community," he said.

"If you have any gift certificates," now is the time to use them, Campagna said. Upcoming specials include corned beef and cabbage and potatoes Friday, Saturday and Sunday—a good opportunity to use them.

Campagna said he considers his staff family, and there are a lot of longtime employees who are good people and who are dedicated. "I've tried very hard to keep things going and moving forward."

Until 15 years ago, the restaurant was at 2010 York Road until it moved to its current location, he said.
