Goldberg's Bagel Watch Continues

Find out when the Pikesville-based bagel giant plans to finally open its Timonium store.

First it was May. Then it was last Monday. Now it’s …

(Pause for effect)

This Monday, July 9! Or so I’m being told.

Goldberg’s New York Bagels shop has twice now pushed back the grand opening of its highly anticipated Timonium bagel shop location.

Patch stopped by the shop in the Padonia Village Shopping Center Thursday afternoon and spoke again with a store manager.

The manager said last Friday’s storm knocked out power to the shop, further delaying the opening. Additionally, a sudden spree at Goldberg’s flagship location forced employees, who would’ve helped out in Timonium, to stay and man the counters in Pikesville.

The Zagat Guide gave Goldberg's Pikesville shop a 22 (out of 30) for food and said:

“Big, fresh and often right out of the oven”, the “gobble”-worthy treasures produced by this “kosher establishment” in Pikesville just might be the “best bagels” you’ll encounter “without going to NYC”, plus there’s more robust, sit-down fare; it “isn’t a place you visit for decor or service”, but “fight the crowds” anyway – you won’t be “disappointed”; P.S. closes early on Fridays, opens late on Saturdays."

Will Goldberg’s open Monday? Patch is 50/50.

One Patch user who goes by the name “Harry Calahan” left the following comment Tuesday on Patch’s about Goldberg’s official opening date.

"Here is ANOTHER Goldberg's update. Dateline: Tuesday, July 3, 2012 Time: 12:30 p.m. Did a driveby at Goldberg's to see if there is any activity and to see if they are open. Observed a box truck that supplies commercial paper products and janitorial supplies in front of Goldberg's. Saw the driver gazing into the front door of Goldberg's and banging on the door trying to rouse someone from inside of the store. The driver left without being able to make his delivery. Later this afternoon, July 3rd, at approximately 3:45 p.m. my wife does another driveby at Goldberg's while returning books to BCPL in Cockeysville. She sees a Pepsi truck and driver having the same non-success trying to make a delivery to Goldberg's.

"Are you certain that they told you that they planned to open on July 1 of 2012 and not July 1 of 2013?"

 Yes, Harry. I'm sure.
