GREAT ESCAPE: Mickey Cucchiella Live at Magoobys

Patch finds a local, fun night out each week so you can keep your babysitters employed!

Mickey Cucchiella, Baltimore’s own 98 Rock morning DJ and irreverent standup comedian, will premier 30 minutes of new material at  in Timonium, this weekend.

If you’ve ever attended one of Cucchiella’s shows, you know the jokes are going to be raunchy and politically incorrect—but intelligent, insightful and funny.

This is why Cucchiella can pack a house.

And Magooby’s is a large house to pack. Its stadium seating can accommodate an audience in the hundreds. Even so, shows do sell out, especially Cucchiella’s, so here’s your heads-up.

"Cucchiella definitely has a following," said Andrew Unger, the owner of Magooby's. "98 Rock has quite a reach and the guy is just a great performer. He does well for us."

Cucchiella is adding new material for the five weekend shows—earthquakes have a way of making a comedian find the humor in what made the rest of us shake.

“For 10 seconds, I felt like Michael J. Fox,” Cucchiella quipped. He said he has 10 to 15 earthquake jokes lined up as part of a longer story that he’s adding to his set.

Two other comedians, Lawrence Killabrew and Laurence Mullaney, will also be featured. Mullaney has been seen on Law & Order: Criminal Intent and is currently filming a sitcom pilot.

Got a busy weekend? Catch the Thursday night show at 8 p.m.

Otherwise, weekend showtimes are Aug. 26 and 27, 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $17. Call Magooby’s to reserve yours at 410-252-2727.
