Hereford Fixture Pioneer Pub Ending 45-Year Run

The restaurant has been in business since 1968.

It's been affectionally dubbed the Cheers of Hereford but after 45 years, The Pioneer Pub & Restaurant is preparing to shutter its doors.

"It's just that after 45 years, my brothers and I have decided to move on," said Kim Polley, who owns the restaurant with her two brothers.

Service will end either Thursday or Friday, she said.

Polley's parents purchased the establishment, at 17417 York Road in Parkton, in 1968, and the children have been working there "as long as we can remember."

Polley and one of her brothers plans on "semi-retiring," while her other brother is planning to focus on another business.

"It's a place where lots of people came in and we all knew each other," she said.
