POLL: Has Your Favorite Timonium Restaurant Closed?

The Reef Grille, The Valley Inn and Restaurant Sabor have all closed in the last year.

Who is going to miss the four-star Spanish paella at Restaurant Sabor? Who remembers the feeling of a cold beer on a hot day while dining outside at The Reef Grille? Who knows what happened to The Valley Inn?

For one reason or another, all three of these Lutherville-Timonium restaurants closed in the last year (although we've heard rumors of a redesign shaping up at The Valley Inn).

Restaurateurs are far from immune to the challenges of the economic downturn—and fine-dining establishments are no exception, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Our food reviewer wrote: "Chef Domacasse and the folks at Sabor have made their mark on the Lutherville scene. With a menu that is nothing short of brilliant, and an atmosphere that takes dining to the next level, Sabor stands out amongst its competitors." (, Oct. 2010)

Our food reviewer wrote: "If you are in the market for a place where you can sit down and have a few drinks and eat some fresh, unpretentious, really good food, then a night at The Reef needs to be on your to-do list." (, Sept. 2010)

Our food reviewer wrote: "I think in the end it's because the Valley Inn seems so unapologetic about the business they do. I’m all for preserving the classics and sticking to what you believe in, but it's almost as if Valley Inn is pushing people away. I have mentioned before that a business that refuses to evolve with its customers is destined to eventually fail, and that is what is happening at Valley Inn." (, March 2011)
