Spicy Rumors About a Play for McCormick to Move Out of Baltimore County

Company's Maryland roots go back decades.

MCormick & Co. wants to consolidate its northern Baltimore County offices and headquarters, and Pennsylvania may try to lure the company to abandon Maryland.

While McCormick CEO Alan D. Wilson said the company’s preference is to keep its headquarters and other offices nearby, he would not rule out a move to Pennsylvania, according to The Baltimore Business Journal.

“If they’re interested in Pennsylvania, we’re certainly interested in talking to them,” said Steve Kratz, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. “We think we have a lot to offer.”

A Baltimore County spokeswoman said County Executive Kevin Kamenetz plans to schedule a meeting with Wilson to discuss McCormick keeping its headquarters and other offices in the county, the Journal reported.

“We feel very confident McCormick will choose to keep their headquarters and administrative offices in Baltimore County,” said Fronda Cohen, a Baltimore County spokeswoman.

Wilson said Wednesday that McCormick wants to consolidate its 87,000-square-foot corporate headquarters at 18 Loveton Circle in Sparks with three locations on Schilling Circle in Hunt Valley, the Journal reported. Those facilities are the 126,000-square-foot divisional headquarters of McCormick’s consumer business at 211 Schilling Circle, the 81,750-square-foot divisional headquarters for its U.S. industrial business at 226 Schilling Circle and 13,000 square feet at 215 Schilling Circle that includes an employee wellness center.
