Averil Christens-Barry Joins NKF-MD as Development Manager

LUTHERVILLE, Md. The National Kidney Foundation of Maryland (NKF-MD) has named Averil Christens-Barry its development manager.

In addition to executing the Santé: A Culinary Odyssey fundraising event, she will manage and supervise the Foundation’s development team and special events to include the Greater Baltimore Kidney Walk, Rappel for Kidney Health and the NKF Golf Classic.  

“I have a family history of kidney disease, so I am excited to join NKF-MD and further develop the Foundation’s mission to improve the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease,” said Christens-Barry.

“NKF-MD has been a highly respected foundation for 50 years and I am fortunate to be joining such a strong team,” she added. 

After graduating from the University of Maryland, Christens-Barry began her events career as catering sales manager for the Churchill Hotel in Washington, D.C. During her tenure there, she received the Rising Star Award from Crestline Hotels and Resorts.

For the past seven years, she served as marketing manager for Belvedere & Co. in Baltimore and oversaw the complete rebranding of the organization and the companies within that umbrella, including the Owl Bar, 13th Floor and Belvedere & Co. Events.  She also supervised networking events, filmings and other special events that related to the company’s image.
