Ellen Torres Joins the Alzheimer's Association as Development Director

TIMONIUM, Md. –The Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter has named Ellen L. Torres, CFRE its director of development.

Bringing 29 years industry experience, Torres is responsible for leading and growing the Association’s development efforts, including the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the Memory Ball, as well as increasing revenue through individual and major gifts.

“The Alzheimer’s Association seeks to significantly increase revenue for research and program services through developing stronger relationships with our donors,” Torres said. “I am very excited to be able to work with the board and key volunteers and donors in increasing awareness of Alzheimer’s and to grow the level of support from our existing donors and new prospects.”

Torres began her non-profit career as district director with Muscular Dystrophy Association and financial development specialist with American Red Cross. She has held leadership positions with Catholic Charities of Baltimore since 1998, starting as development director of St. Vincent’s Center and then the Child & Family Services division before becoming the organization’s director of annual program campaigns in 2011.

A highly ranked trainer for Association of Fundraising Professionals, Maryland (AFP Maryland) Chapter and other nonprofits, Torres currently serves on the Leadership Baltimore County alumni membership board and the New Pathways, Inc. board of directors. She is a past president of the New Pathways board and a former AFP Maryland board member.

Torres earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Loyola University, Maryland, as well as the Certified Fund Raising Executive accreditation.
