Tony is Back at The Charred Rib by Eddie Applefeld

The good new is, after a year away, Tony Campagna has returned at the helm of The Charred Rib, 12 West Ridgely Road in the Yorkridge Shopping Center.  And acccordingly to what he told me, he's very glad to be there since he missed all the customers he has meet during his 29 years. 

The Charred Rib is basically an institution in Lutherville.  It has been serving people from as far back to its York Road location.  And to this day, it is still serving some of the best baby rack ribs anywhere.  It comes into the restaurant from Denmark and when it gets there the chefs work their magic. People are ordering lots of it everyday.

The Charred Rib is the kind of restaurant where many people know one another so the atmosphere is very friendly. You may walk in alone, but once inside you most likely will see someone you know and be invited to there table.  I actually saw that happen twice during my one-hour visit.   

The restaurant is open seven days for lunch and dinner. There's seating for about 240, plenty of parking and rooms for private events. If you don't want to have your party there, they do off premise catering. 

Besides the baby back ribs, the menu also offers homemade soups, salads, a raw bar, beef, seafood, pasta and chicken selections and appetizers.  I tried the crab cake and it indeed ranks as one of the best in the area.  You might want to take advantage of the Early Bird Menu offered Monday through Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. 

If you like poker, why not sign up to play in one of the World Tavern Poker nights, Sunday, Monday or Thursday and if you like karaoke, stop by Fridays at 9 p.m. and tell The Godfather what to play.  On Sundays watch any football game on TV with their NFL Sunday Ticket package.
