TALKING POINTS: MTA Proposes Raise in Fare

Where do you stand on the issue?

There is perhaps no more divisive an issue in the Lutherville-Timonium area than . (Link provided meant to illustrate divide in opinion on the train.)

Some residents moved to this area because of the convenience the light provides provides to getting around, . Others are unhappy with the train, blaming it for a —although those contentions are largely unsubstantiated by statistics.

But now a new question regarding the light rail comes up—would you pay more to use it?

Michael Dresser, a Baltimore Sun reporter, writes, "The Maryland Transit Administration has told the General Assembly that it would have to raise Baltimore-area transit fares by 65 cents next fiscal year—a 40 percent jump—in order to meet state revenue goals without cutting service."
