First Significant Snow of the Season Forecast

Timonium could be blanketed by as much as three inches.

The first significant snowfall of the season is in the forecast for the Baltimore County region. 

As much as 3 inches could blanket the Lutherville-Timonium area by Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service

Rain, however, is in the immediate forecast for much of Wednesday. The downpour could be heavy at times, with up to three quarters of an inch possible.

On Wednesday night, we'll likely see a mix of rain and snow, that is expected to become mostly snow after 1 a.m. Snow accumulation is projected between 1 and 3 inches. 

The high for today is 59 with a low of 31 later this evening.

Weatherbug.com, which is reported from , also posted a flood alert for this afternoon. 

"Snow and rain in the evening...then snow likely after midnight," Weatherbug.com reports. "Snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches. Breezy and cooler with lows around 30. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent."

Wunderground.com also issued a winter weather advisory, in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 3 a.m. Thursday. The website predicts 1 to 2 inches of heavy wet show, with 2 to 4 inches at higher elevations.
