Construction Worker in Critical Condition After Stevenson Lane Crash: Police

The man was holding a stop sign when a vehicle failed to stop, police said.

A Prince George's County man is in critical condition Friday after being hit by an SUV in a Towson construction zone, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Construction worker Alejandro Morales Silver, 24, of Bladensburg, was directing traffic around a work zone on Stevenson Lane near Stanmore Road when he was hit, police said.

At approximately 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Silver was holding a stop sign to halt westbound traffic on Stevenson Lane when a 2013 Honda CRV traveling west failed to stop and ran into him, police said.

Silver was taken to shock trauma for treatment of injuries that were life-threatening, according to police, who said he was in critical condition Friday afternoon.

The Honda CRV remained at the scene, police said.

Stevenson Lane was shut down temporarily between Stanmore Road and Osler Drive as police investigated, according to the report.

Silver, an employee of Olney Masonry Corporation out of Beltsville, was wearing a hard hat and reflective vest at the time of the crash, police said. He was looking west when he was hit, according to police.
