County Councilman's Son Involved in Pedestrian, Car Accident

The pedestrian was unhurt but Councilman Todd Huff wants the area where High View Street runs into York Road studied by the State Highway Administration.

A car driven by 's son, John Huff, struck a pedestrian Thursday evening where High View Street meets York Road in Timonium, police said.

The pedestrian was crossing York Road eastbound, headed away from at about 6:31 p.m., according to police spokeswoman Detective Cathy Batton. There is a crosswalk where High View Street, which runs west of York Road, meets York but there is no traffic signal.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old male, was not injured. The pedestrian, who refused transport to an area hospital, was cleared by medics at the scene.

No citations were issued Thursday evening. The accident remains under investigation. Batton said that John Huff, 20, was "polite and cooperative."

Councilman Huff called the incident an "unfortunate accident" one that he hopes he can prevent in the future. On Friday, Huff contacted  about a possible examination of the crosswalk.

"There is no forewarning for anybody driving along York Road about a crosswalk, or pedestrians—no signs, no lights," Huff said.

On warm summer days, the crosswalk at High View Street is heavily used by pedestrians, who park their cars across the street into overflow parking spaces for Hightopps or the .

About six Baltimore County police cruisers blocked off two lanes—one in each direction—causing heavy backups along York Road for a little over an hour.

The speed limit on York Road is 40 mph.
