An Essex man has been charged in connection with a shooting that sent one man to the hospital earlier this week, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

At 6:50 p.m. on Monday, first responders found a man with at least one gunshot wound at Middleborough Road and MD Route 702 in Essex, according to police, who said the shooting occurred on nearby Strawflower Road at Sandystone Road.

Dorwick Anthony Mallory, 20, of the 1400 block of Browning Court, who was an acquaintance of the victim, was charged in connection with the shooting, police said Wednesday. Mallory was charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and use of a firearm to commit a felony, online court records show.

Mallory was being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center without bail, police said.

Detectives have not identified an "exact motive" in the shooting, according to police. Anyone with information may contact police at 410-307-2020.
