Mays Chapel Townhouse Blaze Displaced 5, Injured 1: Officials

The fire in Mays Chapel Village affected three homes, Baltimore County Police and Fire said.

Crews responded to a house fire in Mays Chapel Sunday that displaced several residents and injured one firefighter, Baltimore County Police & Fire reported.

At approximately 5 p.m. Sunday, crews were called to a fire that began when flames spread from a grill behind an end-of-group townhouse in the 600 block of Dunloy Court to the house itself, then to the adjacent home, according to the report. Both properties were heavily damaged by the fire, the report stated.

As soon as firefighters arrived, officials said they called for additional personnel and the blaze was upgraded to a second alarm.

By 6:38 p.m., the blaze was under control, according to the Baltimore County Professional Firefighters Association.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, the report said.

As a result of the blaze, four adults and one child were displaced from the two homes, Baltimore County Police & Fire reported.

One adult was also displaced from the next house in, which had damage that was less severe, according to the report.
