Jermaine Lewis: 'I Never Resisted Arrest'

The retired Baltimore Raven told TMZ he was not resisting arrest when police tased him at his Reisterstown home.

Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jermaine Lewis, who was  at his Reisterstown home Monday in a reckless driving case, told TMZ he was not resisting when police tased him.

Lewis said he was sitting on his couch when officers used the taser in front of his crying 4-year-old son and his barking dog, the report said.

Emergency 911 operators told police witnesses saw a Dodge Charger driving erratically Monday evening, almost hitting several cars and striking the sign of the Boring Volunteer Fire Company at the intersection of Old Hanover Road and Hanover Pike, the police report said.

When police tracked the vehicle to Lewis’ home on the 4900 block of Glyndon Drive in Reisterstown, they said he smelled like alcohol and became combative when officers tried to arrest him, the document said.

Lewis faces several traffic violations related to the arrest, including:

  • Failure of vehicle driver to report property damage to nearest police;
  • Failure to stop after unattended property damage;
  • Failure to notify owner of unattended property of damage;
  • Failure to control speed to avoid a collision;
  • Driving on a suspended license;
  • Driving on a revoked license.
