Three people were hospitalized as a result of the crash.

A 45-year-old woman was taken to shock trauma with serious injuries after she was hit by a chain-reaction crash on Bellona Avenue Monday morning, police said.

At 10:59 a.m. on Monday, police and fire personnel responded to the 6800 block of Bellona Avenue for a pedestrian reportedly hit by a vehicle, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Police said that according to the initial investigation, a 30-year-old woman driving a Toyota Camry hit the rear driver's side of a Honda Accord, which then rammed into an unoccupied golf cart, which hit the pedestrian.

The Camry swerved to the left, swerved to the right, went up on a curb, hit a utility pole and came to rest against a tree, police said. The driver was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Medical Center with minor injuries, according to the report.

The pedestrian, who had serious injuries, was taken by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said.

The driver of the Accord, a 33-year-old man who had just gotten into his car and was about to drive away when the crash occurred, was taken to St. Joseph with minor injuries, according to police.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is investigating the incident.
