Phone, Money Stolen in Reisterstown Home Invasion

Two men stole an iPhone and $400 from a Reisterstown home Wednesday night.

Two Reisterstown residents were robbed at gunpoint inside one of their homes Wednesday.

Police said two men, brandishing a black handgun, stole a black iPhone 4 and $400 in cash from a home on the unit block of Shropshire Court in Reisterstown, between 7:45 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 26. The victims included the home’s 21-year-old resident and a 20-year-old neighbor, according to a Baltimore County Police report.

The incident is under investigation by the Franklin Precinct’s Investigative Services Team, said precinct commander Capt. Matthew McElwee.

The robbers are lucky the people inside weren't armed. Could have made for a great story. Homeowners need to realize that we are in hard times. People need to arm themselves and protect their valuables. Owning guns is like having insurance. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Dont know if this was the case but most home invasions are drug or other crime related so the better idea than preping for a home invasion or a zombie attack is to not get into the criminal life and be proactive in your neighborhood.

Ya know, criminals do actually do these home invasions at random. Me being prepared doesn't classify me as a criminal at all, if that's where your comment was aimed.

Nope... I have firearms for defense/plinking. The idea is that home invasions are done because the suspects know there is something they want that cant be taken during a burglary... Something worth a lot of money and portable (drugs, guns, large amounts of cash). Since all my guns are legal and kept in a safe it would be rare for a burglary or home invasion to net a good haul. The idea i am trying to put forward is that it is very very rare for a home invasion to target a normal citizen, but the "home defence" crowd pushes the fear like it is going to happen to you next week. Preping for a real threat makes you more prepared to face it than preping for a threat that is likely never to happen. Thats why the army trains for combat vs other armys and not vs mole men or zombies.
