Timonium Doctor Charged with Sex Offenses, Assault

Police are investigating whether there are additional victims.

A Timonium doctor with a medical practice near Patterson Park has been charged with sex offenses and assault, according to reports.

After a patient visited the doctor's office April 12 for back pain and said Yanjalagere K. Ramaiah, M.D., began touching her inappropriately and made comments like suggesting she "sexercise" to burn calories, police responded, according to WBAL.

Ramaiah, 75, of the 300 block of Valley View Garth in Timonium, has been charged with third and fourth-degree sex offenses and second-degree assault, according to court records.

He was committed and released on bail.

Since the charges were filed in mid April, Ramaiah has shut down his practice, according to WBAL. The practice was located in the 400 block of North Kenwood Avenue in Baltimore City.

Baltimore City police said the doctor's conduct raised "red flags"—such as when he asked a patrol officer, unprompted, whether the officer was there because of a sex offense—WBAL reported.

Police reportedly brought the Drug Enforcement Administration into the investigation as well.

The Baltimore City Police Department said it is looking for additional victims. Patients who may have been victimized are asked to call 410-396-2269.

A preliminary hearing for Ramaiah is scheduled for May 13 in Baltimore City District Court.
