Baltimore County Grants AFSCME Employees 3% Bonus

Workers represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees had worked without a contract for more than a year.

After working for more than a year without, union employees who work in the county’s Department of Public Works and Property Management have agreed to a contract.

The contract, which lasts through fiscal year 2016, provides for a 3 percent bonus, a 3 percent cost of living increase and guarantee they will not be furloughed or laid off during the length of the agreement, according to a news release.

"I am very pleased every time we reach an agreement with one of our labor organizations," County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in the release.  "But I am particularly pleased that we reached a new agreement with [American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees].  Many of the men and women in AFSCME are those who pave our streets, remove our snow, and repair our water and sewer systems."
