District 3 Zoning Hearing Happening Tonight, Starting at 6 p.m. (Not 7 p.m.)

Are you going? Tell us what issues concern you most?

The Baltimore County Council is scheduled to hear community concerns regarding zoning tonight at the second hearing for District 3, which includes Lutherville, Timonium, Cockeysville, North County and parts of Parkville and Kingsville.

Patch confirmed with a county official that sign-ups for the hearing begin at 5 p.m. at Loch Raven High School. The hearing itself will begin at 6 p.m.

There has been confusion surrounding the start time of hearing. The county website indicates 6 p.m. as the start time, but does not specify whether that is the start of sign-ups or the hearing.

Several Lutherville Community Association members are planning to speak out against the request, while officials said they would speak to their side of story without parading multiple supporters up to the podium.

Bunny Renaud, College Manor's assisted living manager and co-owner, lamented the rift the request has caused in the community.

"It has been difficult not to take some of the comments and actions of the association personally but I respect their right to their opposing opinion," Renaud wrote in an email. "The last thing I wanted to see was the polarization of the community in the same way as changing the traffic patterns on Francke Avenue and Kurtz divided the neighborhood. You don't see opposing signs for that reason. You won't see legions of supporters at the zoning hearing on Tuesday the 26th because I haven't asked people to publically demonstrate. The call by many to maintain civility does not fall on deaf ears."

College Manor aside, community members are also concerned about a number of commericial vacancies along the York Road and Timonium Road corridors.

If you can't make it to the hearing, check back with the site where I'll be living blogging the proceedings including comments from various speakers. Check out the attached PDF document for the area's log of issues.

In the meantime, what most concerns you most about changes in your community? Tell me in the comments section below and I'll be sure to follow-up tonight and tomorrow.
