Gansler Officially Files to Run for Governor, Proposes Expanding Early Voting

Washington Post: Attorney General Doug Gansler officially filed his paperwork to run for governor on Thursday, and then proposed expanding early voting be held at all polling places on the Saturday before an election. Currently early voting is allowed at a few polling places on the Saturday before the election.

Rep. Delaney Could Enter Maryland Governor’s Race 

Baltimore Sun: Rep. John Delaney, a first-term Democrat, has been highly critical of Maryland’s glitch-filled health care exchange website, and is rumored to be considering entering the race for governor. Currently Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown, Attorney General Doug Gansler and Del. Heather Mizeur are running for the Democratic nomination.

Senators Introduce Bill Decriminalizing Marijuana 

Capital Gazette: Sen. Robert Zirkin, D-Baltimore County, and Sen. Allan Kittleman, R-Howard County, submitted legislation that calls for the decriminalization of marijuana. 

Expanded Sunday Hunting Proposed 

Herald-Mail: The Washington County delegation is considering introducing a bill that would allow the Department of Natural Resources to allow deer hunting on more Sundays. 

O'Malley Says No New Taxes, Lobbyist Tries Anyway 

Maryland Reporter: Although Gov. Martin O'Malley's proposed budget doesn't include any new taxes, Vinny DeMarco, president of the Maryland Citizens' Health Initiative, is still pushing the state to raise taxes on alcohol and cigarettes.
