Franchot Out Of Governor's Race

Democrat says he will seek re-election to the state comptroller's post he's held since 2006.

State Comptroller Peter Franchot told supporters Tuesday that he will seek re-election to the position he's held since 2006.

The state's top tax collector was rumored to be eyeing a run for governor in 2014.

In emails and calls to supporters, Franchot said he has decided to forego that campaign.

He seems to have morals and genuine concern for the State of Maryland. Therefore, he is not qualified to be Governor.

I actually have some respect for Franchot as he is one of the few independent minded democrats in this state. Plus anyone who is Owemalley's opponent is my friend.

Yeah I guess one prominent conservative in the state is one too many for you right? Gotta purge every last one.

Frank the majority of this state is to the left. You probably see it as "mainstream" because of your perspective. You probably also view MSNBC as mainstream as well as the New York Times, Washington Post, CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS. This state is a one party monopoly of liberal democrats and has been for so long that people just assume that it will always be that way and sadly it probably will be.
