Residents Urged to Keep Leaves Out of Gutters

Leaving yard waste in a drain could result in leaves in the Chesapeake Bay creating algae blooms

Baltimore County is asking residents to keep leaves out the gutter, streets and drains.

Leaves in the gutter can lead to fires, endanger children who may want to play in the leaves and clog drains and allow leaves to get to enter the Chesapeake Bay causing algae blooms, according to a Baltimore County news release.

The county is urging residents to compost yard waste. Residents who decide to bag their leaves should put them out on normal trash collection days.
