W. Seminary Avenue To Close—Temporarily

The road will close for a few days in May, according to the State Highway Administration. An incorrect sign at the site that indicates it will closed permanently will be changed.

A sign at W. Seminary Avenue and Railroad Avenue states that the roadway will close May 3—permanently. But that's incorrect.

While the roadway will close temporarily to replace the pad that motorists drive over when crossing the Light Rail tracks, it will not close permanently, said Charlie Gischlar, spokesman for the State Highway Administration.

Turns out that the wrong sign was placed by the Maryland Transit Administration at the site, he said.

"We are working (together) to get that changed immediately," Gischlar said, referring to the SHA and MTA.

The roadway will be closed while crews replace the aging pad, he said. That temporary closure will be from 10 a.m. Friday, May 3 through Tuesday May 7.

Once the replacement is complete, the ride over the tracks will be smoother for motorists, Gischlar said.

If the weather is inclement, then the project will be pushed back one week: to May 10-14.

While repairs are being made, detour signs will be set up, he said, rerouting motorists through historic Lutherville.
