Cockeysville Middle Teacher Named Teacher of the Year Finalist

Baltimore County Public Schools will announce the winner on Monday.

A Cockeysville Middle School teacher is one of four finalists for Baltimore County's Teacher of the Year Award.

Kay Soonfah-Senior, a Spanish teacher, was nominated because her "Spanish-Chinese descent, coupled with a Caribbean upbringing, helps her bring a unique sense of diversity to her foreign language classes," according to a news release from the school system.

Andrea Bissell from Chesapeake High, Lynn Detter from Riderwood Elementary, Cara Detwiler from Johnnycake Elementary and Sean McComb from Patapsco High are also up for the honor.
