FIELD HOCKEY

Where volleyball undefeated, field hockey is winless.

The team has yet to produce a winning result this season, with a record of 0-3 after two narrow 1-0 defeats to Notre Dame Prep and Archbishop Spalding High School, last week.

Coach Gabrielle Mink said the team had chances to score, but just couldn’t execute. Defensively, however, she was proud.

"They came out with a lot of intensity," Mink said. "Our goalie, Carrera Lucas, had at least 12 saves.”

The Gators play Severn Sept. 19 and St. Mary's the next day, both on their home field in Brooklandville.

SOCCER

The Gators had a busy week—playing three teams in five days—and coming out with a 2-1 record.

and Gigi Gambino scored two goals in the first half against Garrison Forest Sept. 12 for a 2-0 final score. Julia Braig scored the first goal of the Gators game against Seton Keough with one minute left the first half. Eliza Clark and Nevi Fernandez added two more goals in the second for the 3-0 win, on Sept. 14.

In St. Paul's game against Bryn Mawr, Sept. 16, the Mawrtians scored five minutes into the game. The Gators' Kristyn Giulio tied it up in the first half with an assist from Nevi Fernandez.

The score remained tied at one a piece at the half.

In the second, Bryn Mawr netted two quick goals to take the 3-1 lead. The Gators continued to pressure, and Braig scored with seven minutes left off a feed from Stavrakis, although it wasn’t enough.

"Last week was a test of conditioning for the girls and patience for the coaching staff," coach Don Keener said. "With their hardest stretch of the schedule coming so early in the season, the girls played as well as expected given the short practice time.

"There were a few minor breakdowns in the loss to Bryn Mawr and inconsistent play throughout the week but these are areas that we will focus on after we get through this stretch, five games in nine days," he continued.

St. Paul's plays Sept. 19 against and Sept. 20 against Severn—a big rival for the Gators.
