Lutherville Lacrosse Junior A Team Wins State Championship

Boys defeat Kent Island Storm 12-7, and the Maryland Lacrosse Club Junior A team 7-6.

Congratulations are in order for the Lutherville Lacrosse Junior A team—the state's new lacrosse champions. 

The team beat the Maryland Lacrosse Club Junior A team in a tight fought game by a score of 7-6 on June 4. The teams battled for the championship title of the Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (MYLA) played at Roland Park Country School.

Down 6-4 in the fourth quarter, Lutherville was far from out of the contest. A three goal rally from attackmen Peter Jacobson and Ryan Conrad saw Lutherville through to the state playoffs.

Lutherville goals scorers included Peter Jacobson with one goal, Timmy Kelly with two goals, Ryan Conrad with two goals and one assist, and Jack Lombardo with two goals.

The Lutherville Junior A team then moved onto the State Playoffs held in Howard County at the Western Regional Park in Woodbine on June 9.

The team played against the Kent Island Storm.

Tied 5-5 at the half against the Storm, Lutherville went on a 7-2 tear in the second to take the state championship 12-7.

Lutherville's scoring was led by attackman Timmy Kelly with five goals and one assist. Ted Kasper, Peter Jacobson, and Garrett Michel rounded out the attack.

Midfielder Luke Ciccarone led off the team's scoring with one goal. Midfielders Ryan Conrad had three goals with four assists and Jack Lombardo had three goals with one assist.

Also contributing were midfielders Peyton Bozel, Ben Bittner, Patrick Karey, and Patrick Lagator. A strong defense led by goalie Brody Bartell, held the Storm to two goals in the second half.

Macguire Hayes, Collin Llewellyn, Colin Shawyer, Chase Lubke, Zach Hoelting, Mac Evander, and Grant Gilmore rounded out the defense.
